The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine refused to register a petition to terminate the activities of the Our Ukraine party. This is stated in a letter from the department, a scan of which is posted on the website of the political association.

According to the Ministry of Justice, the application to liquidate the party was signed by an “unauthorized person.” The document was signed by Sergei Bondarchuk, who headed the political council of Our Ukraine. The department noted that at the time of filing the application he had already been expelled from the party. The reason for this, we recall, was the escalating conflict between the leaders of Our Ukraine, which has continued over the past few years.

At the beginning of this year, a de facto split occurred in the party between supporters of its chairman Viktor Yushchenko on the one hand and Sergei Bondarchuk on the other. On January 26, both leaders tried to hold two parallel meetings of the party’s political council, but there was no quorum at either of them. On February 9, Bondarchuk nevertheless convened a meeting of the Kyiv “cell” of Our Ukraine, at which it was decided to expel Yushchenko from its ranks. He was accused of betraying the party's program ideas. On the same day, a congress of Our Ukraine members was held in Kyiv, chaired by Yushchenko, at which it was decided to dismiss Bondarchuk from the party. Later it was reported that Zinoviy Shkutyak was registered as the chairman of the political council of the association instead of him.

On March 2, Bondarchuk held another congress, during which Our Ukraine announced its self-dissolution. Yushchenko did not attend the event, and his supporters said that the decision taken at the congress was not valid. In particular, the party's press secretary, Irina Vannikova, said that Our Ukraine continues its political activities, “despite desperate attempts to destroy it by people expelled from the party, who have lost common sense and the remnants of conscience.” She announced the next congress for May 18.

Let us note that “Our Ukraine” performed disastrously in the last parliamentary elections, which took place in the country last fall. Having collected just over one percent of the votes, she was unable to get into the Verkhovna Rada.
