The Kaliningrad administration adopted a resolution that obliges all citizens to stock up on fire extinguishers and fire-fighting equipment.
The owner of a room or apartment in an apartment building must purchase one powder or carbon dioxide fire extinguisher weighing at least 2 kg, the resolution says. If the total area of the apartment exceeds 100 sq. m, there should be two such fire extinguishers.
The owner of the house, in addition to a fire extinguisher, is required to have a container of water with a volume of 0.2 cubic meters and two buckets.
Those who have a garage must stock up on a fire extinguisher weighing at least 3 kg and an asbestos sheet measuring at least 2x1.5 m.
“Fire extinguishers should be placed in visible places near exits from premises at a height of no more than 1.5 meters or installed on the floor with mandatory fixation against possible fall due to accidental exposure,” the resolution says.
The Kaliningrad authorities intend to monitor the implementation of this resolution, the appearance of which is associated with an increase in the number of fires in the city.
