Representatives of the Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) intend to install machines with free condoms for participants of the Universiade in Kazan.
The AIDS Center already has a certain supply of contraceptives, noted Niyaz Galiullin, chief physician of the Republican Center for Prevention and Control of AIDS.
He added that to prevent HIV infection, Universiade participants can also contact the center in case of accidental punctures and cuts during medical care or after sexual contact with a partner whose status is unknown. If necessary, those who apply will be prescribed chemoprophylaxis.
Also, all participants of the Universiade - athletes, volunteers, coaches - will be given reference books "Together against HIV and AIDS", which contains answers to questions on the prevention of HIV infection, the policy of the sports community regarding people living with HIV.
