The prosecutor's office of the Pskov region announced on April 11 that there were no violations in the income declaration filed by the region's governor, Andrei Turchak. reports this Interfax with reference to the department's press service.

The inspection was carried out at the request of the governor himself. Turchak turned to the prosecutor's office for a legal assessment after it became known in March about French real estate owned by the official's wife. Based on the results of the inspection, the department stated that it found no grounds for prosecutorial intervention.

According to the agency, Turchak made the necessary clarifications to the declaration for 2012. A report published in March on the website of the Pskov region administration reported that the governor’s wife owns 66.67 percent of the authorized capital of the French non-profit organization SCI Villa De Flirey. According to documents published by opposition leader Alexei Navalny, this organization owns a house in Nice worth more than a million euros.

Turchak said that the family will get rid of foreign property by May 1. The governor explained this decision by the fact that the State Duma was considering a bill introducing a ban on the ownership of foreign accounts for officials and their relatives, while the house in France was bought on credit, which required opening an account. The document, introduced by President Vladimir Putin to the State Duma in February, reserves for officials the right to own foreign real estate, subject to mandatory declaration.
