In 2012, the Voronezh region took a leading position among the constituent entities of the Russian Federation in terms of the industrial production index, said the head of the region, Alexey Gordeev, on Friday, speaking with an annual report to deputies of the regional Duma.
According to A. Gordeev, the industrial production index in the Voronezh region in 2012 was 129.4%. Thus, the governor explained, for the first time in recent history, the region took first place among the regions in terms of the industrial production index.
“I consider the main result of our work to be the fact that over the past 4 years, the pre-crisis level of industrial production in the Voronezh region has increased by 44.2%; in the Russian Federation as a whole, the growth index over 4 years was 5.4%. Growth in the volume of gross regional product of the Voronezh region in 2012 amounted to 112%, Russia’s GDP - 103.4%. Thus, currently our region is close to the 20 most developed economic entities of the Russian Federation. The growth rate has exceeded the pre-crisis level,” he said.
The head of the region noted that in 2013, the growth of industrial production in the region is planned at 9%, in Russia as a whole - about 3%.
Last year, it was also ensured that the positive dynamics in the development of the agricultural industry were maintained, the governor said.
“The growth in agricultural production in 2012 was 4.7%. For the first time, the region took fifth place in terms of agricultural production among the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, restoring its status as the largest agricultural region in Russia. Livestock breeders were the driving force of agricultural development in 2012. Here the growth was 8 .3%. Conditions have been created for the development of a new sub-sector of livestock farming - beef cattle breeding. This year the main enterprises working in this direction will be launched,” said the head of the region.
The task of this year is to maintain a leading position in agriculture, especially in milk production and an increase in the number of cows, said A. Gordeev.
As for investment in fixed assets, last year the region took third place in terms of this indicator among the subjects of the Central Federal District, the head of the region noted.
“In recent years, the average annual volume of investments has almost doubled - from 95 billion rubles in 2009 to 180 billion rubles in 2012. According to experts, our region ranks 7th in the investment climate ranking. I believe that the main areas of work to improve the investment attractiveness of the region, 7 rural areas have been identified for priority investment, an unprecedented system of government support measures for investment projects has been formed. At the beginning of this year, about 30 projects with a total funding volume of about 3 billion rubles have been announced for implementation in these areas,” - said the governor.
A. Gordeev noted that in general the region has completed the formation of investment sites.
“Currently, there are three state industrial parks in the region: Maslovsky, Liskinsky, Bobrovsky and one private industrial park “Perspective”, as well as five technology parks and five business incubators,” he added.
A. Gordeev noted that the main task for 2013 is to maintain the current pace of economic growth.
