Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin proposed maintaining Roscosmos as part of the reorganization of the rocket and space industry. He stated this today during a meeting in Blagoveshchensk. A special interdepartmental group decided to abandon the idea of creating a state corporation in this area.

“The first option involved the creation of independent holdings in the form of a joint-stock company and the preservation of the Federal Space Agency. The second option involved the unification of all organizations of the rocket and space industry in a single holding company under the code name Kosmoprom in the form of a joint-stock company, while the Federal Space Agency would also be preserved,” said D .Rogozin.

The third option, according to him, implied the creation of the Roscosmos state corporation, by analogy with the Rosatom state corporation, with the transfer of all functions of the Federal Space Agency to it, while the agency itself was planned to be liquidated.

“When assessing these options after difficult discussions, our working group came to the conclusion that at the present stage it is necessary to maintain and strengthen the role of the federal executive body – Roscosmos – and the simultaneous gradual consolidation of rocket and space industry organizations into large holdings in the form of joint-stock companies,” said Deputy Prime Minister

Earlier it was reported that it was proposed to allocate the development of orbital-space assets, launch vehicles, operators, science and testing complex, and strategic missile weapons enterprises into separate holdings. In addition, it was proposed to increase the number of Roscosmos employees, which currently stands at 215 people. According to the agency, the required number of personnel is 450 people.
