270 years ago, on April 13, 1743, Thomas Jefferson, the third President of the United States and one of the authors of the Declaration of Independence, was born. He believed that "for the most part, people are more inclined to suffer than to fight in order to eliminate the cause of suffering." Few people know that, being a wealthy planter, Jefferson managed to go bankrupt during his public service, and after his death, his estate was sold for debts.
