In Egypt, a new process begins over the ex-president Mubarak

The repeated process in the case of reprisals against demonstrators in the days of the Egyptian revolution begins in Cairo. The main defendants-former President Hosni Mubarak and ex-Minister of Internal Affairs Khabib al-Adley-will again have to present before the court at the police academy in the suburbs of the capital, ITAR-TASS reports.

On the eve of the first hearing, which will be broadcast live on Egyptian television, enhanced security measures are taken there. About three thousand employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will take part in the provision of law and order. About 20 armored vehicles and 30 armored personnel carriers will expose around the perimeter of the Academy and at the entrances.

Mubarak will be delivered to the courtroom on a helicopter equipped with medical equipment. As the representatives of the power structures responsible for the transportation of the 84-year-old ex-president indicated, such a decision was made in view of several reasons-the unstable state of the defendant, in consideration of security and due to the remoteness of the medical institution from the academy.

On June 2 of last year, Mubarak and Al-Adley were sentenced to life imprisonment for involvement in the deaths of demonstrators in the days of mass folk unrest in early 2011. Although lawyers based on the testimony of witnesses were able to provide evidence that he did not give the order to shoot people, the court considered him guilty due to the fact that he, as the head of state, did not stop bloodshed.

After the appeal filed with the defense, the Cassation Court decided to revise the case.

In addition to Mubarak and Al -Adley, two sons of the ex -president - Gamal and Alya, as well as six police officials - assistants of the former head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, who were justified, should appear on the bench of the defendants.
