Human rights activist, director of the Southern Regional Resource Center (SRRC) Mikhail Savva was detained in Krasnodar. This was reported by the regional information site "Yugopolis" with reference to the President of the URRC Tatyana Lyskina .
According to Lyskina, the human rights activist was detained the day before at about six in the morning. A search of his apartment continued for several hours, after which Mikhail Savva was detained and taken to the FSB pre-trial detention center.
Lyskina also said that representatives of the Southern Resource Center contacted representatives of the law enforcement community in Russia: “Now social activists are trying to get into the FSB detention center to find out what conditions Mikhail Savva is in.”
Lenta.ru, citing the words of Savva’s wife, reports that the human rights activist was detained as a suspect “in a case related to receiving funds from the regional budget.” This is how FSB officers explained the detention to the detainee’s wife.
It is known that on Monday Mikhail Savva was supposed to speak at a meeting of the Russian Presidential Council for Human Rights with a report on the inspection of non-profit organizations in Kuban.
Novaya Gazeta correspondent in Krasnodar Evgeny Titov wrote in his blog that “Mikhail Savva is not in the regional FSB department. No one knows where he is.”
The press service of the FSB Directorate for the Krasnodar Territory does not comment.
