Three participants in the Italian strike of pediatricians, which began on April 2 in Izhevsk, announced a hunger strike. This is the leader of the city branch of the Trade Union "Action" Tatyana Mazaeva, a doctor of the children's clinic No. 6, and her colleagues from the 8th and 9th clinic members "Action" Olga Baryshnikova and Natalya Rybolovleva. As stated in the statement of the participant of the action, published on the blog of the local activist Andrei Konoval, they take this step to “stop administrative pressure and grass, unleashed against us at our workplaces” and “force the Ministry of Health of Udmurtia to start this dialogue with the“ action ”trade union on the most acute issues that we posed.”
At the same time, the member of the hunger strike intends to continue the Italian strike - that is, the literal performance of official duties without the slightest deviation from the rules - until their health is allowed to work.
In addition, doctors urge those who are sympathetic to the rally "For decent medicine!" The action will be held in Izhevsk on April 20 at the Friendship of Peoples Monument; Start at 12:00. Doctors of various specialties from various cities and villages of Udmurtia will take part in it.
Initially, 11 doctors of two city clinics took part in the Italian strike. Later, one of the protesters, unable to withstand constant stress, went to sick leave. However, later new participants joined the action.
Earlier, the Ministry of Health of Udmurtia refused to enter into dialogue with doctors. Moreover, the head of the department, Vladimir Muzlov, allowed himself slanderous statements to the pediatricians, and also threatened the protesting deprivation of "stimulating payments" - bonuses.
The “action” trade union announced the intention to hold the Italian strike on March 23. The immediate reason for the action was the introduction of the “fines” systems that began in the clinics of Udmurtia, which consisted in withholding “stimulating payments” in the clinics of the Udmurtia. This measure, according to protesters, will allow officials to save on the salaries of local doctors and nurses. In addition, the discontent of the doctors caused monthly delays in a significant part of the salary.
Mazaeva explained to the tasks of the action, it is not only to express the protest, but also to demonstrate the real volume of overtime load on doctors and nurses. That is why the form of Italian strike was chosen. "Officials want to carefully conduct paperwork, give lectures on prevention and persuade 100 percent of parents to give their children vaccinations - well, we will do this. And we will take the reception and go on calls for exactly six hours a day and spend not five or six minutes on inspection, but, as it should be according to the law, 13-20 minutes," the activist said.
The priority requirements of the doctors are the payment of all "stimulating", the abolition of fines and an immediate increase in the basic part of the salary by 29 percent. As Mazaeva explained, these issues are entirely in the competence of the republican authorities, and therefore can be resolved without any delay.
