
Dorogomilovsky court of Moscow arrested three cars of Hieromonk Elijah (Pavel Semin), accused of the death of people as a result of an accident, Interfax reports. The arrested by the Mercedes SL, Mercedes G and BMW 740 were arrested.
The court granted the petition of the lawyer the victim of Igor Trunov. The defender asked to arrest the property of Semin in order to ensure the civil lawsuits of the victims, the total amount of which is 15 million rubles. The prosecutor supported the petition.
The accused was against the arrest of cars, claiming that Mercedes SL and BMW were sold before the accident. Mercedes G is in case as material evidence. The court did not heed Semin’s request, since there were no documents for the sale of cars.
Semin is accused under Part 5 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code (violation of traffic rules, resulting in the death of two or more persons). Since August 17, 2012 he has been under arrest. The Russian Orthodox Church made a statement that it is prohibited in the clergy until the completion of the investigative authorities. If his guilt is established, hieromonk will be deprived of the dignity. “Such a measure is possible, even if we are talking about an unintentional murder without aggravating circumstances,” said Archimandrite Savva (Tutunov), deputy administrations of the Moscow Patriarchate.
The 26-year-old Semin is suspected of committing a major accident that led to the death of two people. Semin was driving the Mercedes Gelandewagen car with the numbers of the "thieves" series AMO77, which may indicate belonging to Moscow officials. A white SUV followed Kutuzovsky Prospekt towards the region. However, in the area of house No. 30, opposite the Kutuzovskaya metro station, where the roadway is being repaired, the driver of a foreign car lost control and ran into the polymer red and white blocks that protected the place of road work.
Then, by inertia, the car continued to move and crashed into a group of workers and a Gazelle who was behind the fence. After this collision, Mercedes changed the trajectory and crashed into a Skoda foreign car, assigned to one of the taxi services that followed in the same direction. Both cars overturned from the blow. Immediately after this, the driver of the SUV climbed out of the passenger compartment and disappeared from the scene. As a result of the accident, two people were killed, another was hospitalized.
