Born on January 1, 1949 in Tashkent. Known as Uzbek and Taiwanchik. He played football for the Pakhtakor youth team and worked as an administrator in the football team CSKA. In the 1970s he became a professional gambler (“katala”). We were convicted twice: for violating the passport regime (in 1972) and parasitism (in 1985), both times we received a year in prison. In 1989 he emigrated to Germany. Since 1993 he lived in France, since 2001 in Italy. In his own words, he was engaged in business related to the withdrawal of Russian troops from Germany, as well as the supply of food products to Russia.

On July 31, 2002, he was arrested in Italy at the request of US authorities. In August of the same year, the Manhattan District Court brought charges against him in absentia for organizing the rigging of the results of sports and dance couples competitions at the Olympics in Salt Lake City, which allowed the French couple Marina Anisina and Gwendal Peizerat to win gold medals. In April 2003, the International Olympic Committee officially admitted that he had nothing to do with collusion and bribery of judges. In June 2003, the Italian Court of Cassation refused to extradite Mr. Tokhtakhunov to the Americans, after which he moved to Russia.

In 2004 he created and headed the National Football Foundation. Before the ban on gambling, he was a co-owner of the large Moscow casinos Metropol, Europe and Asia. In 2011, he was included in the ranking of the ten most dangerous criminal leaders in the world, compiled by Forbes based on materials from the FBI, CIA and the US Department of Drug Enforcement.

Known for his friendship with Shamil Tarpishchev and Joseph Kobzon. The author of the books "My Silk Road" and "Angel Haute Couture", played the role of a thief in law in the film "MUR".
