During the construction of the Eastern Siberia - Pacific Ocean oil pipeline, the state company Transneft was able to save 87.1 billion rubles, or 11 percent of the project cost. reports this RIA Novosti with reference to Transneft materials.

According to the state-owned company, in general, the first stage of the project cost 380.6 billion rubles, the second - 275.5 billion rubles. It took another 49.7 billion to expand the first line, and 12 billion to extend it to the border with China. Thus, in total, the costs amounted to more than 700 billion rubles, that is, ESPO became one of the most expensive infrastructure projects in the history of Russia.

During the construction of the ESPO, which began in 2006, the costs of the oil pipeline were revised several times . Back in 2009, the project was valued at less than 500 billion rubles.

On April 18, it also became known that Transneft had revised the costs of building two of its new oil pipelines. The state-owned company believes that the Zapolyarye-Purpe pipeline will now cost not 120, but 199.2 billion rubles, and the oil pipeline in the Yurubcheno-Tokhomskaya zone of Eastern Siberia will cost not 96, but 114.4 billion rubles.

The reason for the rise in price of the first project was the lengthening of the route, the increase in the length of land sections, as well as recalculation into 2014 prices. There is no information about the reasons for the change in the amount of expenses for the second project.
