They decided not to hold a May Day demonstration in the Pavlovsky district of the Krasnodar Territory, since this holiday coincides with the Orthodox Holy Week.
The press secretary of the district head, Dmitry Bakulin, told the Interfax-Yug agency on Friday that on May 1, Spring and Labor Day, residents of the district will not go out for demonstrations and public festivities. The traditional goods fair on this day has also been cancelled.
“This is due to the fact that this year May 1 coincides with Holy Week, during which it is not customary to have fun,” explained D. Bakulin.
According to him, the holiday will be celebrated modestly in the region, limited to concerts of creative groups in the central park of the regional center and the children's art school.
In turn, the head of the press service of the Kuban Metropolis, Archimandrite Trifon (Plotnikov), told the agency that, in addition to the cancellation of the traditional demonstration in the Pavlovsk region, the date of the parade of the Kuban Cossack Army in Krasnodar has also been postponed. The parade, which is usually held in early May, is this year scheduled for the last week of April.
“We support such decisions of the leaders of the region and the army, since the week, that is, the last week before Easter (coming on May 5 - IF) is Passionate, when the betrayal of Christ by Judas, the crucifixion of our Lord Jesus Christ on the cross and other related sacred things are prayerfully remembered evangelical events.
