The congress of the people of Ingushetia advocated the election of the head of the republic through parliament, RIA Novosti reports. In total, 213 delegates with the right to vote attended the congress. 196 people spoke out for indirect elections. Earlier, the head of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Evkurov noted that the decisions of the congress of the people of Ingushetia are advisory in nature, but will be taken into account in the work of the Legislative Assembly and the authorities of the republic.

Ex-President of Ingushetia Ruslan Aushev spoke out at the congress for direct elections. “I am for the popular elections,” he said. “During direct elections, an agreement is concluded on the responsibility of the future chapter to the people, and he undertakes to solve the facilities not to someone, but to the people on the basis of the constitution and the law.” Aushev intends to nominate his candidacy for the post of head of the republic in September, if the elections are held. The initiative group of citizens collected more than 40 thousand signatures under the appeal to him with a request to take part in the elections.

Evkurov at the congress also announced his intention to join the election struggle. "If there will be the will of the people, I am ready to take part in the elections," he said.

In addition, the congress delegates supported the appeal to the President of Russia to determine the administrative border with Chechnya within existing limits. 209 people voted for the proposed project of circulation. The Chechen authorities have recently claimed the Sunzhensky and part of the Malgobek districts of Ingushetia. The administrative border after the separation of the constituent entities of the Federation in 1992 was not determined.

The law on the right of regions to choose whether they should leave direct elections of governors or enter the procedure for the election of the head of the subject through the regional Legislative Assembly entered into force on April 2, after the signing by President Vladimir Putin.
