Leonid Kovyazin, a freelance correspondent for the Vyatka Observer newspaper, was detained on September 5 in Kirov by employees of the Moscow Investigative Committee on suspicion of participating in the riots on May 6 in Bolotnaya Square. A search was carried out in the apartment and at the workplace of Kovyazin. Investigators interviewed the Vyatka Observer editorial staff. In the process, the reason for the detention was mentioned - allegedly he “destroyed 6 toilets” ( video on YouTube ). “The briefly shows how Lenya touches the closet moved by rebel youth. And for this, as investigators said, he shines from five to ten, ”wrote Julia Shevtsova’s journalist. Rosuznik’s lawyer in Kirov Alexei Lapin was not allowed to be the detainee.

He has been living in Kirov since 2004, with a 78-year-old grandmother who needs support. He studied at the faculty of philosophy and cultural studies of the Vyatka State Humanitarian University. To feed himself and his grandmother, he worked as a teacher at school, a loader, and was engaged in a video film.

At the same time, Leonid was engaged in the dramatic laboratory of Boris Pavlovich, the artistic director of the theater on Spasskaya in Kirov. The first time Lenya visited Moscow with the play "My War" by Sergei Berezin. The performance was held as part of the Golden Mask festival and was shown outside the competition at the Doc Theater.

On September 7, 2012, the Chairman of the Basmanny Court, Olga Solopova, decided to elect a preventive arrest for Leonid Kovyazin for a period until November 5. On September 27, in the Kirov Theater, in support of Leonid Kovyazin, a performance was held on the tragedy of Aeschil's “Orestei”, in which Lenya played the role of the agiste earlier.

On October 1 , the Moscow City Court examined the cassation complaint about the arrest of Leonid Kovyazin . The lawyers of Chanidze and Samarin represented four guarantees for Kovyazin from cultural and art workers. Then it was proposed to make a deposit of 700 thousand rubles collected at the Orestei show. The defense was ready to present a video to the court, which clearly shows that Kovyazin was not trying to hide from the “crime scene”, but the court rejected the petition.

On October 29, the Basmanny court decided to extend Leonid before March 6, saying that he could "continue to engage in criminal activity, put pressure on witnesses and victims, hide from the investigation."
