They should be prohibited along with cassette bombs and anti -personnel mines, the organizers say.

Activists of the campaign, including many scientists, are convinced that the rapid development of military robotics will allow you to completely remove a person from the management of these "death machines" that will independently determine the goals and "make decisions", BBC reports. Now there are no such completely autonomous warfares yet - the same drones, for example, are unable to act without teams, which in any case receive from a person.

If in the future cars are literally granted the right to decide who to live and to whom to die, this will violate the fundamental international laws in the field of human rights and the basic humanitarian principles. And the fact that sooner or later this is what the human rights activists does not seem to be in doubt. Therefore, they require in advance to prohibit the production, development and use of the latest combat robots.

The ideas about the future in which the “terminators” operate are not much different in essence from the plot lines of the famous movie epic of the same name. There, robots programmed to perform certain tasks went by any means to fulfill them without understanding the means. If random people were on the way, they could easily become victims of soulless cars.

In the same way, in reality, combat systems may appear, which will be enough to once set a certain set of tasks and parameters of execution, after which they will no longer need a person’s leadership, the organizers of the campaign believe. “I do not want a programmed machine to be destroyed by a programmed machine,” says one of the leaders, American activist Jody Williams, who once founded the international movement for the ban on anti -personnel mines and received the Nobel Prize of the world for this in 1997.

Combat robots for the so -called "bloodless wars" are developed in a number of countries, including the USA , Great Britain and Russia. Our country, however, is at the very beginning of the cycle of such developments. To date, there are already dozens of types of robotic weapons, such as unmanned aerial vehicles, unmanned military vehicles and robots for neutralizing mines. Or, for example, the Israeli Iron Dome Air Defense System, which effectively intercepts uncontrollable missiles and capable of knocking enemy aircraft at an altitude of up to 10 kilometers.

According to the command, the request for the use of unmanned vehicles is growing. So far, drone operators make up only 10% in the ranks of the American Air Force, while 90% are real pilots.
