A Japanese tourist tried to bring prohibited literature into Russia, distorting the borders of the Russian Federation
Sakhalin customs officers seized brochures from a Japanese tourist that distorted the line of the existing state border between Russia and Japan.
“Two glossy magazines in Japanese with images of the Kuril Islands were found on a passenger on the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk-Sapporo flight during a customs inspection,” reports the press service of the Far Eastern Customs Administration.
The examination showed that the brochures are propaganda materials that distort the line of the existing state border between the Russian Federation and Japan.
The maps and text contained in the magazines harm the political interests of Russia and its state security. This kind of product is included in the list of goods prohibited for transportation through the customs territory of the Customs Union, the agency notes.
Customs opened two cases of administrative offenses - for non-compliance with prohibitions and restrictions on the export of goods and their non-declaration. The goods have been seized.
A similar incident occurred a year ago at the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk airport. Then two Japanese citizens entered Sakhalin with the same printed materials. By court decision, the magazines were confiscated and destroyed.
