The life of the major wounded by the Belgorod shooter is out of danger

Police Major Yuri Sedykh, who was wounded by the “Belgorod shooter” Sergei Pomazun, is in intensive care, but his life is not in danger.

On Monday, April 22, in the center of Belgorod, local resident Sergei Pomazun, who was repeatedly convicted , opened fire on visitors to the Okhota store, and then on passers-by on the street , after which he fled in a BMW car. The authorities announced a reward of 3 million rubles for information about him. On Tuesday afternoon, the Investigative Committee asked the court to arrest Pomazun in absentia , and in the evening he was caught at the railway station in Belgorod. To capture Pomazun, a special operation was organized, in which riot police, Kursk and Voronezh police detachments, and the Zubr and Lynx detachments took part.

During his arrest, Pomazun wounded Major Sedykh with a knife. After this, the “Belgorod shooter” refused to testify , but stated: “I didn’t shoot at children. I shot at hell.”

“Even after S. Pomazun was detained by the police, people gathered at the station shouted: “Let us tear him apart.” There was no threat to the life and health of S. Pomazun. At that time, he had already been taken away from the place of detention. People they said such words simply out of emotion,” a source in law enforcement agencies of the Belgorod region told Interfax.

Because of Pomazun, six people died - three in the gun store and bystanders - a man and two schoolgirls, 14 and 16 years old. Five people died on the spot, a 16-year-old girl died in the hospital.

Pomazun faces life imprisonment.
