The Left Front “lit up” near the Presidential Administration in support of Udaltsov

Left Front activists near the Presidential Administration building staged a rally in support of movement leader Sergei Udaltsov: they unfurled a banner and lit fires.

This was reported on Udaltsov’s Facebook page . The police detained three protesters - Yuri Surkov, Maxim Chekanov and Anton Maryasov, "the rest fled into the metro." The detainees were taken to the Kitay-Gorod Department of Internal Affairs.

Last week, the Moscow prosecutor's office suspended the work of the opposition Left Front until July 19, 2013. The Left Front said the ban has no legal force and is planning to change its name. “Until July 19, our organization, temporarily banned by the prosecutor’s office, will act as the New Left Front ,” later wrote the leader of the movement, Sergei Udaltsov, who is now under house arrest . Udaltsov is accused of organizing public unrest on Bolotnaya Square in May 2012.

The “Bolotnaya case” was opened after the “March of Millions”, which took place on May 6, 2012. The opposition action, coordinated with the authorities, ended in clashes with the police. Law enforcement agencies interpreted the incident as mass riots and opened a criminal case under Article 212 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Calls for mass riots") and Article 318 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Use of violence against a representative of the authorities").
