While providing armed resistance during a special operation in the village of Sogratl, Gunib region of Dagestan, two suspects of participation in an illegal armed group were killed, a source in the republic’s law enforcement agencies told Interfax on Wednesday.
“According to preliminary data, two militants were killed, preliminary identified as local residents. The house in which they were hiding is on fire. Special measures continue,” the agency’s interlocutor said.
Earlier it was reported that law enforcement agencies began storming a private house in the Gunibsky district of Dagestan due to the bandits’ refusal to lay down their arms. Their exact number is unknown. As a result of negotiations with the bandits, two women and a two-month-old child were released. According to the press center of the National Anti-Terrorism Committee, "at 13:25 the negotiations stopped due to the fact that the bandits opened indiscriminate fire on the law enforcement forces."
