Boris Berezovsky shortly before his death wrote two letters to President Putin. I received the first letter from him at the beginning of this year, in February somewhere, and the second after his death. The text is the same, so there were letters,” Putin said.

At the same time, the first letter to the Kremlin was sent by a former business partner - a Russian, the second - a foreigner, Putin said.

According to Putin, in letters Berezovsky allegedly admitted that he made many mistakes, asked for forgiveness and permission to return to Russia. Putin did not answer Berezovsky.

The president also said that he would not object to Berezovsky to be buried in Russia, but this "should be a decision of the family." He also said that he knows nothing about the involvement of the Western special services in the death of Berezovsky.

In early April, sources in the Presidential Administration reported that Berezovsky’s letter was transmitted by Roman Abramovich, with whom Berezovsky was suing shortly before. “There were several repentant letters,” the government also said. One of them, according to him, was sent to Abramovich himself.

Earlier, a close friend of Berezovsky, Katerina Sabirova, in an interview with The New Times, confirmed that shortly before his death, Berezovsky wrote a letter to Putin. “Yes, I saw the handwritten text of the letter. He read it to me,” she said. “He apologized and asked for the possibility of returning. It was such a deflection.” Berezovsky discussed the idea of ​​writing a letter to Putin with his wife Elena Gorbunova for a long time, Sabirova noted. According to her, the message with an apology was to be a kind of "jerk".

Another friend of Berezovsky Annika Ankverina does not believe that Berezovsky wrote a letter. This was announced by The Times by the former PR consultant of businessman Richard Hillgrow. According to him, Ankverina saw Berezovsky two days before his death and found him upset.
