In Volzhsky, an action against bad roads took place in the steppe

On Saturday, in the city of Volzhsky, Volgograd region, a large protest against bad roads took place, reports the portal "Height 102" .

The city hall approved the event in an extremely unfortunate location - in a vacant lot near one of the most remote residential areas of the city, practically in the steppe. Nevertheless, about 500 cars came to the rally. In total, the number of participants exceeded 1000 people. Particular attention was drawn to a boy who was standing in a tanker’s helmet in a UAZ with a poster “Like roads, like cars!”

According to one of the organizers of the action, deputy of the Volga City Duma Yuri Shchevelev, the administration’s choice of place for the rally is very indicative. “We had to hire tractors at our own expense so that they could at least level the site. This is the whole attitude of the authorities towards us,” the deputy said.

Volzhsky residents of all ages came to the rally - from youth to pensioners, entire families, with children. They loudly applauded the speakers, who emotionally said that it was impossible to tolerate such roads any longer. The mother of a wheelchair user, pioneer city builders, entrepreneurs, and students spoke from an improvised podium, the role of which was played by a KamAZ vehicle. They were indignant: the war was long over, and the roads were like after the Battle of Stalingrad. The city has not done major road repairs for a long time, limiting itself to pothole repairs, and these patches dissolve after a few rains, since there is too much sand in the asphalt mixture. The reason for this was cited by the speakers as corruption among officials distributing funds for road repairs.

The disgusting condition of the roads leads to a huge number of fatal accidents, the protesters said, this is simply genocide. Volga residents demanded the imprisonment of officials guilty of embezzlement of funds allocated for the road industry.

During the action, the rally participants adopted a resolution - an appeal to Russian President Vladimir Putin demanding the restoration of the violated constitutional rights to a decent life; increasing funding for road repairs; changes to GOSTs and SNIPs required for the quality of repairs, taking into account climatic and geographical features; increasing the guarantee for completed road work. Signatures were collected for the appeal during the event; in addition, until May 10, the text of the appeal will be available for signature on the website of the Union of Motorists . After this, the resolution will be sent to the head of state, since, according to the rally participants, they do not intend to rely on the mayor, governor and other representatives of regional authorities.

At the end of the action, everyone present turned on the sound signals of their cars, low beams and hazard warning lights for 10 seconds, which, according to the organizers, was supposed to signify the extreme degree of protest of Volga motorists against the broken roads of the region.
