It's time to write a final post following an interesting trip to the Netherlands. From April 21 to 27, I was invited to the international team of journalists who examined the Dutch achievements in the field of waste processing, recycling.
Not every country will decide to talk about itself, showing landfills. However, since they do it - there is something to show.
The Netherlands today are one of the leaders, and perhaps the leader in the field of garbage processing. The state decided to abandon landfills, and now all the garbage either passes through the processing and receives a second life in the form of materials, details and other things, or is burned and becomes a source of alternative energy for the country.
The second life is received by old frames from bicycles ...

.. They make new bicycles from them.
The second life is obtained by the remnants of coffee obtained after the grounding and cooking coffee in coffee houses ...

... They grow mushrooms for restaurants.
Old cars get a second life ...

... and old planes ...

... And even coffee packages turn into handbags.

The scale of the industry is also amazing. From huge factories and factories processing tons of waste ...

... to small private initiatives and family business for four people.

Today, the Netherlands process 50% of waste, and want to process more than 65%. In some cases, in recycling cars, for example, they go to a figure of 95%.
The Dutch were completely freed from landfills. Of the 200, only 20 remain. And those that remained, produce biogas and turned into projects such as a golf field. Yes, on this landfill you can play golf!

An important detail about this landfill (which the language does not turn to name the language). This "landfill" produces a biogas sufficient to provide 100,000 inhabitants with electricity. That is, for example, if the Left -bank dump in Khimki is closed and turned into a Dutch version - it could provide the whole city by 34 with electricity, and at the landfill itself it would be possible to play golf.
But this is not that detail. Which I wanted to talk about, the Dutch understand that even with such landfills producing biogas, something will have to be done over time. And now the owners of this production of biogas have decided to save money for descendants now so that there was a sufficient amount for disposal. And this amount has already been collected and postponed.
The entire waste processing business (except one of all where we were) is private. This is a profitable story. So profitable that the Netherlands today are already buying garbage in Italy, Spain, Germany, Belgium and planning to purchase in England, for example.
The stunning evolution of the consciousness of Europeans, who began to perceive garbage as raw materials and only in such a vein.

This is not to say that everything is perfect. Here you have, for example, a funny episode on the conveyor where the label workers and robots compete.
Nevertheless, according to the company's calculations, one robot replaces four Poles, so soon this conveyor will be fully mechanized.
Part of the news about recycling in Holland are sad for Russia. Here, for example, a landscape company, landscaping cities (I wrote about this in detail in one of my reports), found a replacement for a peat ... in garbage - makes structural high -quality soil for trees and generally plants based on not peat, but coconut chips.

And yet, following the results of the trip, I somehow became more optimistic. I saw that garbage, landfills are not a problem, but an opportunity. The ability to save and even earn.
Undoubtedly, when self -government will return to the regional level, and free competition in business will return to the federal level - garbage processing will become a strong industry in our country.
And who knows, maybe one day I can invite journalists from Hungary, Germany, Czech Republic, Turkey, Finland, Portugal, Italy, Israel and the Netherlands to Russia - and I will show what we could achieve in the field of recycling.
In the meantime, do not be lazy and look (links above) a series of my reports.
Garbage on the streets, in squares and on landfills only because of garbage in the heads of governing the country. We will remove this garbage - we will make the beautiful all of Russia.
