Today, the Basmanny Court sent Alexei Gaskarov to the pre -trial detention center at least on June 28. The activist goes through the “swamp case” as the accused.

Gaskarov was detained on Sunday, immediately after the interrogation in the Investigative Committee, to which he was called as a witness. Investigators believe that on May 6 in Bolotnaya Square, Alexei led a group of people who "took an active part in the riots," and "personally used violence against a police officer."

“Gaskarov’s fault is confirmed by the investigation by video materials, testimonies of witnesses and eyewitnesses who identified him as a person who committed a crime,” was written on the website of the TFR.

“At some point, I saw that in the place where people were sitting on the asphalt, some incomprehensible movements and screams take place ... OMON employees, expressing obvious aggression regarding the demonstrators, run into the crowd and begin to beat people, and then drag them out for a cordon. People who did not express any aggression were subjected to detention and beating. Among the detainees were women and adolescents. At the same time, OMON employees did not explain anything, on their part one could hear only obscene abuse.

One of the riot police herself purposefully tried to hit me in the face. For a while I closed my hands, but I missed the strongest blow just above my eye. Blood began to flood my eyes, and I began to lose consciousness. At the same time, OMON employees first tried to detain me, then, when they saw my condition, they simply threw me in the middle of the square and went again for the cordon. ”

After the promotion, Alexei turned to the emergency room, where his head wounds were recorded and three seams on the cut over his left eyebrow were recorded. The judge reacted with suspicion that the application for beating was submitted only on May 28, three weeks after the rally.

Today, the investigation petitioned the court to detention, since he conducted a “secretive life”, as well as “repeatedly attended meetings of the Coordinating Council of the opposition”. Deputy Dmitry Gudkov and human rights activist Lev Ponomarev were entrusted with Alexei, but the court ignored this and respected the request of the investigators. Alexey denied his guilt, saying that he had not beaten the police, but only “pulled out the demonstrators” and dragged one aggressive riot police from the protesters.

Maxim Solopov today told Rain that the FSB had long warned Gaskarov that he would sooner or later become a defendant in the case and would be arrested.
