It will be easier for those who renounce their citizenship to obtain a Russian passport

Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev to develop and submit to the State Duma a law that would simplify the granting of citizenship to compatriots who are native speakers of the Russian language, who refuse a foreign passport and move to Russia for permanent residence.

“Develop and submit to the State Duma a draft federal law providing for simplification of procedures and reduction of time for consideration of applications for admission to Russian citizenship from compatriots who are native speakers of the Russian language, whose relatives in the direct ascending line previously lived in the territory of the Russian Federation and the USSR, subject to their permanent move place of residence in the Russian Federation and renunciation of citizenship of a foreign state,” says Putin’s instructions following the direct line with Russians.

The deadline for completing the order is September 15.
