The Ministry of Justice ordered non-profit organizations - “foreign agents” to report on their activities once every six months, and once a quarter - on the expenditure of funds received. The order was published on the website of the Ministry of Justice .

On November 21, 2012, a law officially came into force in Russia requiring NPOs with foreign funding to register as “foreign agents.” The Ministry of Justice stated that inspections of NPOs are needed to identify “foreign agents.” To date, no commercial organization has registered as a foreign agent.

Today it became known that the Tatarstan prosecutor's office found signs of political activity in the work of "Agora" and demanded to register as a "foreign agent." Then representatives of the Moscow offices of the international human rights organizations Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International were summoned to the prosecutor's office . The Nizhny Novgorod prosecutor's office issued a warning to the interregional public organization "Committee against Torture" - the committee reported this on Facebook.

The NGO Golos, which monitors the elections, was fined 300 thousand rubles for refusing to register as a “foreign agent.”
