In Paris, mocking posters with Putin appeared

"Reporters without borders" again included Vladimir Putin in the list of "enemies of the freedom of the press" and put in the Paris metro posters with an indecent gesture of the Russian leader. As reported on the organization’s website, promotions dedicated to World Press Freedom Day were held at the Opera Metro station and near the Pompidu Center. In addition to Putin, portraits of the leaders of Iran, Syria, the DPRK and China were pasted. In total, about a thousand posters were pasted.

This year, 39 politicians are included in the list of "enemies of freedom of information", including the President of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov.

World Press Freedom Day is celebrated for the 20th time. On this day, the journalists' protection committee published a report on the murders of journalists "Underlife Index - 2013". "Russia, where since 2003, 14 media murders have remained undisclosed, occupies ninth place at the Index. The least protected in recent years have been journalists in the North Caucasus," the organization’s website reports.

On March 1, activists of "reporters without borders" deployed a 70-meter banner with the image of a bloodied castate from the Olympic rings at the Russian embassy in Paris. The action was designed to draw attention to the restriction of freedom of speech in Russia, as well as to beating and murders of journalists. According to the organization, since 2000, 28 journalists have been killed in Russia for its professional activities. "Reporters without borders" plan a whole series of protests up to the opening of the Sochi Olympiad.
