Elections in Malaysia did not live up to expectations: the ruling coalition won

The Coalition of the National Front, who was 56 years in power in Malaysia, won the parliamentary elections, announced the chairman of the election commission of the country Abdul Aziz MOHD Yosof at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur.

The results in most areas have already been processed. The coalition, headed by the Prime Minister Najib with a crash, received 112 seats in the lower house out of 222, which guarantees it a simple majority and gives the right to form a government. The trilateral union of the leader of the opposition Anvara Ibrahim received to the present moment 58 seats, ITAR-TASS reports.

The activity of voters was high: 80% of 13.3 million enthusiasts of the country's citizens entitled to the plots, and a quarter of them voted for the first time.

Meanwhile, according to the pre -election polls, the ruling coalition and the opposition had approximately the same chances of victory. In this connection, the elections were called unpredictable for the first time in half a century.

In total, the parliament has 222 seats. The party, which won the majority of places (112), receives the right to the formation of the government.

The parliament was dissolved on April 3 - less than a month before the completion of the term of office of the ruling coalition.

The National Front, formed in 1973, consists of 14 national and regional parties. The leading role in it belongs to the largest party in the country - the United Malay National Organization, headed by the current Prime Minister Mohammad Najib Bin Tong Haji Abdul Razokok. NF won the elections 12 times in a row.

The opposition in the current elections is represented by a folk alliance, consisting of the People’s Party of Justice, the Party of Democratic Action and the V -Malaisian Islamic Party. The leader of the opposition of the country is the former Deputy Prime Minister Anvar Ibrahim.
