A pensioner from Kaliningrad sued a travel agency for half a million rubles for an unfulfilled dream of the USA

A Kaliningrad pensioner has sued a tour operator for half a million rubles for a disrupted trip to the USA, reports New Kaliningrad.Ru .

A 78-year-old woman purchased a trip to America from a travel agency for almost 180 thousand rubles. At the same time, she warned that she has dual citizenship - Russia and Estonia. The pensioner was assured that she did not need a visa, because an Estonian passport was sufficient to visit the United States.

When an elderly woman arrived from Kaliningrad at Moscow airport to board a flight to the United States, she was informed that to visit America she needed an ESTA permit, which the tour operator did not issue to her.

The pensioner went home with nothing, and upon arriving in Kaliningrad, she sued the travel agency. At the trial, the old woman said that she was very worried about the interruption of the trip, because in the future she may no longer visit the United States due to her advanced age. The plaintiff said that a trip to America was a dream of her entire life, for which she had been saving money for a long time.

The Moscow District Court ordered the travel agency to pay the victim almost 500 thousand rubles. The tour operator tried to appeal the decision in the Kaliningrad Regional Court, but to no avail.
