Vladislav Surkov left the post of Deputy Prime Minister

Decree on the liberation of Vladislav Surkov from the post of deputy chairman of the government - head of the government apparatus "On Surkov V.Yu." Russian President Vladimir Putin signed on the afternoon of May 8. The text of the document states that Surkov left the government "of his own free will."

Vladislav Surkov was appointed Deputy Prime Minister on December 27, 2011, before that he worked as the first deputy head of the presidential administration.

“It is still difficult to comment on the resignation of Surkov because it is not clear who will lead the government apparatus and what is the further fate of Surkov himself. I think that the decision is purposefully announced on the eve of the pauses in political activity, so that everyone will guess, think and build hypotheses,” commented the New Times, the president of the St. Petersburg policy Mikhail Vinogradov.

On May 7, on the eve of the resignation of Surkov, between him and the head of the Department for Interaction with the Media of the Investigative Committee of Russia Vladimir Markin, a public skirmish took place. Vladimir Markin in his Izvestia criticized Surkov (however, without calling names) for the performance in the London School of Economics, where he stated that there was not a single proven fact of abuse in the innovative center of Skolkovo. Surkov in response called his text "graphomania." Markin himself told The New Times that he could not comment on the resignation of civil servants. According to Interfax, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov explained that the departure of Surkov is not associated with a polemic with Markin or the Skolkovo Foundation.
