Russia complies with international obligations in the supply of weapons to Syria, said the Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a press conference after negotiations with the UN Secretary General Pan Giom. The weapons supplied by Russia does not violate the balance of forces in the region and does not give advantages to the Syrian authorities over the opposition, the minister noted.

Lavrov emphasized that we are talking about the supply of defensive air defense systems under previously concluded contracts. We do not hide that we supply weapons to Syria under signed contracts, without violating any international treaties and Russian legislation, one of the most stringent in the world in relation to export control," Lavrov said.

“The denouement of the Syrian conflict can only be found through the speedy establishment of an inclusive common -sovereign dialogue with the participation of all Syrian forces without any intervention from the outside,” Lavrov noted.
