Based on the results of the work of metallurgical enterprises in April 2013, Ukraine reduced steel production by 8.4% compared to April 2012, taking 10th place in the ranking of 63 countries - the world's main producers of these products, compiled by the World Steel Association (Worldsteel).

A decrease in steel production volumes in April of this year compared to April last year was recorded in almost all countries of the top ten, except China, Japan and India.

The top ten steel-producing countries at the end of March are as follows: China (65.650 million tons, an increase of 6.8%), Japan (9.170 million tons, an increase of 1%), USA (7.258 million tons, a decrease of 7.3 %), India (6.620 million tons, an increase of 3.5%), Russia (5.591 million tons, a decrease of 4.3%), South Korea (5.497 million tons, a decrease of 6.3%), Germany (3.564 million tons, down 0.9%), Brazil (2.965 million tons, down 1.6%), Turkey (2.866 million tons, down 0.7%) and Ukraine (2.748 million tons, down 8.4%) .

In total, in April of this year, 63 countries produced 132.116 million tons of steel, which is 1.2% more than in April last year.

Based on the results of four months of 2013, the top ten is as follows: China (258.152 million tons, an increase of 8.4%), Japan (35.807 million tons, an increase of 0.5%), USA (28.764 million tons, a decrease of 7. 3%), India (26.636 million tons, an increase of 3.8%), Russia (22.747 million tons, a decrease of 4.9%), South Korea (22.076 million tons, a decrease of 4.8%), Germany (14.444 million tons, decrease by 0.5%), Turkey (11.359 million tons, decrease by 4.6%), Brazil (11.310 million tons, decrease by 3.6%) and Ukraine (11.121 million tons, decrease by 1.9 %).

In total, in January-April of this year, 63 countries produced 521.283 million tons of steel, which is 1.9% more than in January-April last year.
