On Tuesday, May 21, President Putin signed a decree “On Polar Explorer Day.” This was reported on the official website of the Kremlin.
“Establish Polar Explorer Day and celebrate it on May 21, the day the research expedition of the polar drifting station North Pole 1 began in 1937,” says the press release.
The decree comes into force from the day it is signed - today.
