Experts of the Customs Union will prepare for the fall the necessary documents on the issue of giving Ukraine the status of an observer in the vehicle. This, according to Interfax , said President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev in Astana after a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, in which the presidents of Ukraine and Kyrgyzstan also took part.
"Ukraine expressed an interest in obtaining the status of an observer in the Customs Union," Nazarbayev said on Wednesday at the end of the meeting.
He also said that Kyrgyzstan submitted an application for joining the Customs Union.
"We supported their intention and made the corresponding decision. It was an agreement that by the fall, experts will prepare the necessary documents so that we could approve them at the next meeting of the Higher Council," said the President of Kazakhstan.
Kyiv, according to the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych, will sign a memorandum on the receipt of the status of an observer in the Customs Union "in the coming days at the CIS Summit in Minsk". “Such an assignment is given to the Prime Minister,” the head of the Ukrainian state added in an interview with reporters.
The next "Customs-Eurasian" summit will be held in Minsk in late October.
The day before, we recall, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Nikolai Azarov said that Kyiv would not be limited to the status of the observer and intends to join a number of existing agreements that create the legal base of the vehicle and a single economic space. According to Azarov, the status of an observer will allow Ukraine to effectively defend its interests in the Customs Union.
