Nemtsov presented a report on the "giant scam" Sochi-2014

The Olympiad in Sochi has become the largest scam in Russian history, says Boris Nemtsov. On Thursday, he presented his report "Winter Olympiad in Subtropics", written together with Leonid Martynyuk. According to official figures, the budget of the Olympiad broke all world records and amounts to more than 50 billion dollars.

The authors call Sochi-2014 "Personal Project" by Vladimir Putin. This is the most expensive Olympiad in the history of mankind, the report is noted. The expenses for it were more costs for sports facilities of all winter Olympiads combined. And there are already 21 of them. "Comparison of the costs of the Olympic objects in Sochi and in other Olympic capitals shows that Putin prices are two or more and more times higher than the average -worn," the authors of the report write. According to their estimates, the total extent in the project is about 50-60 percent of the budget.

“It is more and more obvious that the Sochi Olympiad is an unprecedented thieves' scam, in which both the representatives of the Putin government and the oligarchs close to it are involved,” the report says. “In fact, the Olympiad highlighted the main vices of the system: arbitrariness, corruption, tyranny, clan, unprofessional, irresponsibility.”

According to the calculations of the authors, the total volume of state investment in the game training program is 96 percent. It is not possible to attract private investments, since it is obvious that the objects of the Olympiad will never pay off. At the same time, Putin's close friends of Arkady and Boris Rotenbergs earned fabulous profits on the infrastructure construction of Olympic facilities, the report says. Companies affiliated with their structures are in second place in the development of budget funds.

The main investor in the construction of Olympic facilities is the Olympstroy State Corporation. Since 2007, four leaders have changed in it. Each personnel rearrangement in the leadership of Olympstroy was accompanied by the initiation of criminal cases on fraud, corruption and abuse of authority.

"Not a single criminal case of fraud, embezzlement, bribes and kickbacks at the Olympics did not reach the court. The main reason for the fabulous theft at the Putin Olympiad is the closeness of power and the impunity of criminals close to Putin. And this is a sentence of a system," the report said.

The authors call the choice of place for the Winter Olympiad extremely unsuccessful. "The high seismicity of the Imereti lowland area, a change in the channel of the Mzymt River as a result of barbaric intervention during the construction of the infrastructure of the Olympiad threatens the destruction of multi -millionaire structures," they believe.

Construction has done a grand damage of the ecology of the only subtropical zone in Russia, which has yet to be evaluated. "However, it is already clear that the unique flora and fauna of the Imereti lowland was lost, the Mzymta River is mutilated, the protected forests were subjected to cutting down, and the predatory construction of roads, bridges and tunnels led to irreversible consequences for the gorges of this area," the report said.

Nemtsov’s previous report on the preparation for the Olympics, written in collaboration with Vladimir Milov, was published in April 2009. The authors claimed that the only way to hold the Olympics in Russia is to decentralize it. The existing Olympic plan will destroy Sochi, destroy the resort business, lead to a collapse of urban infrastructure, the report said.
