Former Resh Rector Sergei Guriev assured that he did not intend to return to Russia after Putin’s words .

“I did nothing wrong, but indeed I have conducted investigative actions that I consider absolutely illegal. I think that Vladimir Putin is also a free person and this is his right to say that nothing threatens me, and not to intervene in the work of the Investigative Committee. But we, as free people, have the right to disagree with him, ”the economist said on the air of the Kommersant FM radio station.

Today, at a press conference, after the Russia-EU summit, the president said that Guriev “does not threaten nothing” if he did not violate the law. However, Guriev said that high -ranking friends recommended leaving the country:

According to the economist, the decision to leave was made after a search in his office on April 25.

“Investigators told me that they would like to interrogate, but instead of interrogation, they came to me with the Order for the search and the decision of the Basmanny Court on the seizure of e -mail over 5 years,” Guriev said, adding that investigators were interested in his political activity. “I believe that I am not engaged in politics.”
