US President Barack Obama ordered to tighten economic sanctions against Iran. Among other things, the action of sanctions directly applies to Rial, the national currency of Iran. Foreign financial organizations that buy or sell significant amounts of Iranian currency are subject to sanctions. What is meant by “significant” amounts, the Obama administration was not specified.
The White House hopes that this measure will force foreign banks and companies to get rid of the Rials, which will ultimately lead to a significant weakening of the Iranian currency. In turn, this should provoke dissatisfaction with the ruling regime in Iranian society.
Although the Iranians are now not easy: since the beginning of the year, Rial has lost 50% of the cost.
Plus, the United States has extended sanctions to companies and private individuals who will supply Iran with goods or services related to the production of automobile equipment in the country. The White House believes that the automotive industry is a key source of income of the ruling elite of Iran.
