
The painting by Ivan Shishkin "Evening" was sold on Wednesday at the auction of the Macdougall's auction in London for 2.158 million pounds, RIA "Novosti" reports with reference to the head of the auction house of William MacDulla.
According to him, the picture set a world record for Shishkin’s work sold at auction.
The estimated cost of the work was 1.2-1.8 million pounds. The final cost includes the amount of remuneration that the buyer pays to the auction.
Another world record was set by Alexander Drevin's work "Landscape with figures." Work, which was estimated at 80-120 thousand pounds, was sold for 102 thousand.
The most important trading lot, the painting by Mikhail Nesterov “Wanderers. The Volga” with Estimaite 1.4-3 million pounds was sold for 1.89 million. This picture was conceived by the artist as a continuation of the famous works "Traveler (Wanderer)", which are now stored in the Tretyakov and Tver galleries. The artist worked all his life on the creation of the image of Christ-ward, constantly returned to Him.
The picture of Konstantin Korovin "Summer Morning", which was evaluated by experts of the auction house at 600-800 thousand pounds, was sold for 747 thousand.
"We are very pleased with the way the auction passes, buyers are of great interest in the top lots," said William McDugall.
