Deputy of the St. Petersburg Legislative Assembly Vitaly Milonov developed a bill limiting the production and sale of products containing trans fats.
The draft amendments to the Federal Law “On the Quality and Safety of Food Products” have already been approved by the St. Petersburg parliament in the first reading, and they are now being proposed for consideration by colleagues from the State Duma.
One of the reasons for the increase in the number of diseases of the cardiovascular system is the excessive consumption of foods containing trans fats (fats of plant origin, in which the structure of the molecule has changed as a result of a chemical reaction), notes the explanatory note to the bill. At the same time, the author of the initiative emphasizes, a number of countries around the world are introducing restrictions on the use of trans fats in food production.
Milonov's bill proposes a ban on the production, import, wholesale and retail trade of food in which the content of trans-isomers of fatty acids exceeds 2% by weight. Such fats are found in inexpensive oil, which can be used in the production of fast food.
In addition, the parliamentarian believes that the packaging of sold products should have warning labels about the content of trans-isomers of fatty acids and their harm to health. Milonov suggests putting the same warnings on bottles and “other containers” of non-alcoholic and low-alcohol carbonated drinks.
Deputy Milonov asked to close sex shops in the cultural capital; he is concerned about the exhibition “Stoned Fox” , concerts of Madonna and Justin Bieber .
The United Russia deputy recently spoke with British writer Stephen Fry about the problems of morality and “propaganda of homosexuality.” Milonov's voters last December asked to send him to a psychiatric hospital , and Russian artists asked Putin to take away Milonov's parliamentary mandate.
At the May Day rally, a red-bearded doll wearing glasses and a wedding dress appeared - it symbolized deputy Milonov. United Russia deputy Milonov himself walked in the column of the “leftists” wearing a jacket with the inscription “Sunday or Death.”
