Sobyanin will go to the polls as a self -nominee

I.O. Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin will go to the early elections of the capital's mayor for a self -nominee. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to a source in the government of Moscow. In order to register with the candidate, Sobyanin will have to submit to the election commander of 1 percent of the residents of the capital, as well as receive support for 6 percent of municipal deputies.

The day before, President Vladimir Putin accepted the resignation of Sobyanin. The head of state wished Sobyanin success in the mayor’s early elections, which should take place on a single voting day on September 8. “In general, you work successfully, so I ask you to continue this work,” Putin said. “I will sign a decree on the appointment of you acting up to the election.”

Earlier, the media suggested that early elections would give Sobyanin an advantage over other candidates who in the summer will not have time to conduct a full -fledged election campaign.

The intention to participate in the struggle for the chair of the Moscow mayor has already been announced by a member of the coordination council of the opposition Alexei Navalny, coordinator of the Left Front Sergey Udaltsov, the leader of the Civil Platform party Mikhail Prokhorov, the leader of Yabloko, Sergey Mitrokhin, ex-head of Rosprirodnadzor, Oleg Mitnyol, Andrei Dunaev. “Another Russia” also intends to nominate its candidate - the defendant of the “swamp business” Alexander Kamensky will become him. The former mayor of the capital, Yuri Luzhkov, also stated the possible participation in the elections, but he had not yet made the final decision on the nomination. On Thursday, it became known that instead of Prokhorov, his sister Irina Prokhorova, director of the New Literary Review publishing house, could be nominated from the “civil platform”.

The Coordinating Council of the opposition should nominate a single candidate in the elections of the mayor of Moscow, said the co-chair of the RPR-Parnas Boris Nemtsov. According to him, only with a single candidate can you at least go to the second round.
