Vladimir Putin divorced his wife

Russian President Vladimir Putin and his wife Lyudmila announced the divorce.

They told a correspondent of the Rossiya 24 TV channel about the divorce after they attended the premiere of Yuri Bashmet’s ballet “Esmeralda” together at the State Kremlin Palace.

“This was our common decision, our marriage is over,” Putin said. He explained that his work involves “absolute publicity,” but “there are people who are completely incompatible with that.”

Lyudmila Putina confirmed that the decision was common. “Our marriage is over due to the fact that we practically don’t see each other,” she said. “Vladimir Vladimirovich is completely immersed in work. Our children have grown up, they live their own lives. In general, it so happens that everyone has their own life. And I I really don’t like publicity. And flying is difficult for me... We hardly see each other.”

“Lyudmila Alexandrovna and I will always remain very close people,” the head of state concluded.

Rumors that the spouses do not live together have been circulating for a long time, one way or another, but the media have stopped touching on the topic of Putin’s personal relationships since the Moscow Correspondent newspaper wrote about his upcoming wedding with gymnast Alina Kabaeva in 2008 and after that the publication was closed.
