
In the candidate dissertation of the head of the Duma faction of the unicorn Vladimir Vasiliev, incorrect borrowings were discovered from the doctoral dissertation of the deputy from the LDPR Sergey Abeltsev. This was reported in his blog by journalist Sergei Parkhomenko, a member of the Coordinating Council of the opposition. As the component of the texts of two works showed, almost 60 percent of Vasiliev’s work is slightly altered fragments of Abeltsev’s dissertation.
Parkhomenko draws attention to the fact that the same person - the professor of the Law Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Gennady Avanesov, acted as the scientific director at Vasiliev and the scientific consultant at Abeltsev. At the same time, Vasiliev’s candidate work was defended in 2001 - only a year later than the doctoral dissertation of Abeltsev.
Since the fall of 2012, a number of scandals have erupted related to the detection of plagiarism in the dissertations of officials and deputies. Among the very first and loud ones were the scandals around the works of the First Deputy Head of the Duma Education Committee of Vladimir Burmatov and the director of the specialized educational and scientific center of Moscow State University Andrei Andriyanov. Andriyanov was forced to leave his post, and after a while he was deprived of his candidate degree.
At the end of May, the deputy head of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Ministry of Education and Science Igor Fedyukin, who headed the commission of the department to identify falsifications in scientific work. He explained his dismissal by "unprecedented and growing voltage every day" around the work of the ministry, which he regarded as a reaction to a campaign to expose plagiarism.
