RPR-Parnas can nominate Navalny as a candidate for mayors of Moscow

The Party of the RPR-Parnas can nominate a member of the coordination council of the opposition Alexei Navalny as a candidate for the post of mayor of Moscow. This was announced by Echo Moskvy radio stations by one of the party leaders Boris Nemtsov. According to him, with a proposal to support his candidacy to the party himself was addressed by Navalny himself. The final decision on this issue will be made at the party bureau, which will be held on Sunday.

Navalny announced the possibility of his nomination on June 4, when the media appeared that the current mayor Sergei Sobyanin could form a prematurely powers.

“I used to say that the elections to the Moscow City Duma and the mayor’s elections are fundamentally important. And now my position has not changed. If the elections are, then I will participate in them while I have such an opportunity,” Navalny said.

The early elections of the Moscow Mayor will be held on September 8 on a single voting day. Sobyanin announced his intention to resign on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the resignation was adopted by Vladimir Putin. At the same time, he appointed Sobyanin the acting mayor.

Sobyanin's powers as mayor of Moscow expired in 2015. The media showed assumptions that the decision to resign and go to early elections was due to the desire to artificially reduce the deadlines for the election campaign for other candidates.

The desire to take part in the mayor’s elections, in addition to Navalny, was also announced by the leader of the Yabloko party Sergey Mitrokhin, the coordinator of the Left Front Sergey Udaltsov, as well as the former deputy head of Rosprirodnadzor Oleg Mitvol. The party of Mikhail Prokhorov "Civil Platform" will decide on its candidate at the beginning of next week - according to some reports, Irina Prokhorova will be nominated for the mayor. “Another Russia” will nominate Alexander Kamensky to the mayors of the “swamp business”. The former mayor of the capital, Yuri Luzhkov, also stated the possible participation in the elections, but he had not yet made the final decision on the nomination.

Navalny is currently a defendant in several criminal cases, including the high -profile case of Kirovles. According to investigators, as an adviser to the governor of the Kirov region, he organized the theft of the property of this enterprise. Navalny allegedly conspired with the director of the Vyatka forest company Peter Officer and CEO of Kirovles Vyacheslav Opalev. The investigation believes that from May to September 2009 more than 10 thousand cubic meters of forest products were stolen.
