Why did I quit myfi
This will be a very difficult story ... Because I quit both voluntarily and forced at the same time. And the story that laid the foundation for this dismissal began much earlier than it was legally designed. But this is an interesting story that shows how Russia, Russian science and education are now being arranged. Therefore, I believe that I am obliged to tell her, at least in order to testify to our time and morals. Unfortunately, this story will be mentioned by the Russian Orthodox Church, which was also drawn into this story. I will try very hard to share here questions of religion and social issues ... I think this is important. But in advance I will apologize to everyone who considers that I did not succeed.
In 2009, the Koronas-Photon spacecraft was launched into the land orbit of the Earth, and the Moscow Engineering Institute of the Moscow Engineering and Physical Institute was the head scientific organization. Personally, in this project, I was engaged in the creation of a system of ground support for a complex of scientific devices installed on the device. I was the head of the Center for express processing, accumulation and storage of data, which was engaged in operational management of all scientific devices on the apparatus, reception, primary processing and distribution of scientific (as well as parts of related telemetric and ballistic) information. We were engaged in the creation of planes for reception complexes, formed management plans for the Central Administrative District, coordinated the work of related organizations, reported on their subjects to Roscosmos, and so on. I have developed this system. What should be software, what iron, how to organize on -duty shifts, how to interact to organizations ... It was the subject of my dissertation. Then I taught students of myfi, who were prepared for the role of operators of the entire created hardware and software complex ... During the operation of the device, I was a member of the main operational management group in the Central Department Store. In 2009, I was a supervisor at once with 5 diplomatic students ... That is, I worked like that normally. He did not really have time to sleep, because the device did not behave stable, and at 4 in the morning they could call "on anxiety." However, the system that I designed and created worked out the whole flight without comments. That is, I did my job and did perfectly what I am proud of.
I was even awarded for this business. Record in the work book. "Big contribution and blablabla" ... it was not possible to smear bread.
But this is a background. History began in March 2010 ... Rector MIFI M.N. Strikhanov, who had previously worked at the Ministry of Education, having come to the university, decided to work out with politics instead of education. To be completely accurate - he decided to invite Patriarch Kirill to speak at the MIFI. And in order to get in front of him, to install a cross for the main forge for the nuclear industry and open the Orthodox Church in the basement of the main corps. I must say directly - the whole MEPHI was stunned by such an attack ... Since Steirikhanov was sure that politics was most important, he began to act ahead of his ministerial manner. If he had at least a little mind - he would have done everything carefully, not causing irritation of the team and university students. But the poor fellow fell into the mortal sin of pride and decided that the opinion of the team is garbage, while he was a boss here. I emphasize this especially - all the activities deployed in MEPHI was not the initiative of the Russian Orthodox Church - but the initiative of the rector of Strikhanov, who decided to strengthen his political significance in the wake of this activity and show his power. This is reliably known to me from many sources.
Unfortunately, the Church did not understand what the official was trying to draw into it ... In particular, they had no idea that for the sake of installing the cross the rector ordered to demolish the symbol of myfi - the sculpture of the traveler and the slogan "Opowed the road". To be precise, this composition was transferred to the backyard of the university, but in the place where it was in a hurry, by the forces of the engineering service of the MEFI, they began to establish a cross. Why engineering service? Yes, because at that moment the system of supply and exhaust ventilation has deteriorated in the Center for Tsenhd and it had to be fixed. We left an application in the prescribed manner in the same engineering service. We have already been appointed time when experts come, and then hastily and unexpectedly canceled everything. The reason was explained quite honestly: "The rector ordered that we urgently put the cross at the entrance - people are now busy, we will finish, return to the applications." We did not really understand then - in connection with which such a rush, because about the visit of the Patriarch, everything became known a little later and at the level of rumors.
The cross buried hastily, worked almost continuously. On the next day, employees and students came and saw a change in the landscape ...
Naturally, such treachery caused great indignation. At the same time, we are announced about the visit of the patriarch to consecrate the temple, which was also hastily erected in the basement of the main corps. Classes are canceled on the day of the visit, students demand to arrive at this ceremony - and some are put in the assembly hall, and for the part they are organized by television in large audience. All questions and all asking questions to the Patriarch are filtered in advance, check and plan a sequence. As usual, in the process of window dressing, they forget to turn off the camera in time ... So she captures the conversation of Archpriest Chaplin and the rector of Strikhanov at the end of this action - the rector admits that the idea of installing a cross is a lot of opponents, and explains to Archpriest that it is necessary to increase the number of supporters carefully ...
I was among these very opponents. If the cross were installed somewhere in Sarov, there are units of the MEPhI-a famous religious center, I would call it appropriate. If all these events were carried out without a pump, FSO and students' drives on the orders of the rector, I could have remained silent. But we were faced with fantastic impudence and treachery. The rector played politics, a rector, which was not from the ministry, wanted to remind of himself. Initially, this was not a matter of religion or atheism - this was a matter of elementary respect.
Therefore, before the visit of the Patriarch, I printed such leaflets and went to hang them around the territory of the MEPhI. I emphasize. I am a tolerant person by his beliefs, not a God -fighter - but I do not like it when they try to forcibly turn me into their faith, and even for political reasons. It is not at all against that everyone could confess any religion and believe in those gods that he likes more. But I insist that a person had the right to study at a state university, not believing in any gods and not going on a distant man to meet with the patriarch.
For this reason, I prepared a statement to the prosecutor’s office with a request to find out at what means a religious symbol was established, to which it is legal that the university established it by the forces of its employees during working hours, how legally to cancel his classes and force students to go to a meeting with the patriarch, how legally to allocate the premises of a state university for the creation of the temple. Moreover, I not only compiled the text of the statement, I also distributed it as openly as possible - on forums and social networks. The statements were massive, because many people in MEFI were against the arbitrariness that Rector Strikhanov made. Only now, the first thing I got from the prosecutor's office, but from the rector.
The prosecutor’s office in violation of the Federal Law (Federal Law No. 59-FZ, Article 6) transferred all the information about the applicants in MEPhI. The rector demanded the dismissal of employees who dared to write an application for him.
I, an employee who regularly worked, who taught students who created a system for the spacecraft, said to be dismissed because I turned to the state authority with a request to verify the legality of spending the funds of the budget organization and compliance with the constitution of the actions of its leader. The order was given orally. It was said that those who wrote should go and apologize for their behavior, write the relevant statements in the name of the rector. Of course, I flatly refused this. The rector, in order to peel off, urgently put a sign from the Cross that it was a monument to the dead nuclear nuclear people, and began to appeal to the decision of the Council of Veterans of MEFU that the monument would be worth it to erect. In all the responses of the rector it was emphasized that the Orthodox Cross, consecrated by the patriarch, is not a religious symbol. In response to repressions (students who signed the statement, they called to the dean’s office and promised a “fun session”) on the forums began to appear proposals to dump this cross, if it is not a religious symbol, such vandalism-de would not insult anyone. In response, the rector set a video camera, the purpose of which was to monitor what was happening at the cross. This is what "popular support" looked in reality. Additional conversations were held with me in order to hint that if I do not calm down, other people will suffer already - who are now covering me and protect me from dismissal. Simply put, the rector took hostages. Now that I am not an employee of myfi, I can talk about this openly ...
I emphasize once again - never once and with anyone I did not discuss the question of whether there is God in the sky, and how he needs to pray correctly. I hope that the Orthodox believers will understand me - if from universities they begin to dismiss employees only because they are asking to observe the laws of Russia, then this will not benefit anyone. In Italy, students reached massive manifestations and achieved the cancellation of the visit to the University of Pope. In any civilized country, there could be no situations in which university employees would try to dismiss because they asked to verify the implementation of the laws of the country. This is not a matter of faith or unconsciousness, this is a matter of morality. This is a question that you can not break into a strange house and try to impose your beliefs by force, against the will of people living there.
I went to the temple in MEFI. I wanted to see how everything was done there. The renovated basement, quite spacious ... When I went in, there were two women in the scarves, which my visit brought into unspeakable surprise. They looked like a guide, when someone suddenly, for the first time in a year, wanders into the distant hall of the museum. These women sat in the corridor and volunteered to help me ... I said that he had just come to see. All the other premises of the temple were empty. Probably, I should have come there during the service - I tried to figure it out when it should have passed, and found out that once a week (maybe two - now I don’t remember exactly) a priest from another church came there. Honestly, I did not quite understand the point of "fence the garden" if, having come to the temple, even a priest cannot be found. Although, probably, I do not understand these matters ...
Last fall, I was already very ill ... A series of sick leave was drawn to me, and I perfectly understood that such a "work" did not benefit. I tried to deal with the promising devices that are now being prepared for a series of meteorological situations. We discussed the interfaces of another device that should be installed on the ISS. But I could not provide stable workings. Having met with the boss, we agreed that I should think about what to do next. It was autumn 2012. Just during my thoughts, the rector Strikhanov decided to open the department of theology in the MEPHI ... during the thought, I took a vacation because I was inanimate ... when I went out of vacation, I wrote a letter of resignation of my own free will.
I did not look for opportunities to work remotely (although technically to develop what I did, there were such opportunities). Unfortunately, from my point of view, my native university has ended. In the reason, I indicated that I was quitting in protest against the opening process in the structure of NIAU MIFI Religious structural units. In the personnel department, they looked at me with horror, and said that the document without a visa of the legal department would not be passed further, and offered to rewrite. I did not rewrite, went to lawyers. I proved to them that I can write everything that I consider necessary, they eventually agreed. Naturally, not only the Department of Theology influenced my decision to leave, but also the prospect of treatment abroad, an understanding of the difficulties that I deliver to my leaders ... But still in this bowl there was the last drop that overwhelmed it. Maybe someone will consider it a flight from perspective. For me, this is a slap in the face to the management of MEFI. Small, but what is. Let them know that scientists are quitting from their university because they hire priests to work. This is such a substitution process. Science and religion are difficult to live under one roof, if they were placed there not a natural historical process, but the desire of the rector to earn political points. MEPhI was created in 1942 as an institution of ammunition. It never had any theology, and this department is not a tribute to history, and not a natural process - there is nothing to appeal to Western universities here ...
In 2011, I was called, as usual, on an open day - to lure schoolchildren, to convince them to enter the MEPhI. I did it for many years in a row, and then I did it quite sincerely. In 2011, I refused. I explained to the responsible employee from the department: "I'm afraid to not resist and tell them - saw a cross at the entrance? Do you want science - go to where there is no cross at the entrance." So then I was silent again.
Today I can no longer be silent, corporate ethics does not hold me.
Dear applicants, now you will decide where to enter. No need to go to MEPhI. I graduated from this university, I graduated from a graduate school in it, I released many diplomats in it. And I know what I say. MIFI was a victim of politics, the rector of Mifi Strikhanov treats all students and employees as his puppets. This is a vile and immoral person. The scientific council of MEPhI is very dissatisfied with his policy, but gray -haired professors are afraid to speak out about it differently than in cupor conversations. These are cowards. And the scientist cannot be a coward. Neither cowards nor politicians are able to discover new knowledge - they are only capable of working in a weather vane. You could learn from them, but honestly, you should not. Without this knowledge, your life will not be very simple, but it will be interesting. Do not waste your youth on uninteresting things, do not turn the process of learning into formality. Do not enter MEPhI. Such a university in the country is no longer.
And now everyone can go to the democrator and sign a statement demanding to close the department of theology in MEFI. This appeal was signed by 90 academicians and corresponding members of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Signatures under it continue to arrive. That is why I decided to write this post. This is not God -frying, this is the protection of what is dear to me. That is why I urge people to sign this statement - regardless of religious beliefs. MEPhI should teach nuclear physicists, not theologians. And this is not a matter of religion, not issues of faith or unconsciousness - this is the whole personal matter of every person - this is a matter of common sense. This is a question that concerns everyone.

And I did not set the goal of offending someone by writing it. But as a direct participant in these events, I think I can write about them.
