
Deputies of the Magadan City Duma at the next meeting unanimously voted for the candidacy of Sergei Abramov to the post of mayor of the Kolyma capital. Previously, Abramov worked as deputy mayor.
His candidacy was recommended for consideration by the competition commission, then an interview was held, Interfax reports with reference to the representative of the press service of the city hall.
The new mayor of the Kolyma capital thanked the people's chosen ones for trust. "I am aware of the degree of my responsibility for the prospects and the future of Magadan and the Magadans, which we will share with you in our joint work," Abramov said.
He added that "in recent years, Magadan has been developing dynamically, as evidenced by the socio-economic indicators of 2012."
Earlier, deputies of the Magadan City Duma voted to amend the charter of the regional center, according to which the head of the city was the chairman of the City Duma Andrei Popov, and the mayor was appointed deputies.
