The organizer of the privatization of the 7% stake in AK Alrosa, which is owned by Yakutia, will be OAO Republican Joint-Stock Company, Yakutia President Yegor Borisov told journalists.

The final decision on the sale of 14% of Alrosa must be made by the government by June 25, so that the placement can take place in October-November, the president of the diamond mining giant Fyodor Andreyev said earlier. The basic option for privatization is placement on the Moscow Exchange; Alrosa is not interested in attracting a strategic investor.

"That's true," Borisov said, answering the question of whether privatization would take place through the Republican Joint-Stock Company. Rosimushchestvo had previously chosen the investment bank Goldman Sachs to organize the sale of the state-owned stake in Alrosa (also 7%). Borisov emphasized that all operations would be carried out under strict control. "The position of the republic is that we are for state control of the company," he added.

According to the calculations of the Ministry of Economic Development, the state may receive 12-24 billion rubles from the sale of 7-14% of Alrosa shares. The funds from privatization are planned to be used for the development of Yakutia's infrastructure. The state currently owns 50.9% of the company's shares, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) - 32%, eight uluses (districts) of the republic - 8%, and the remaining shareholders - a total of about 9%.

OJSC "Republican Investment Company" was created by the government of Yakutia in 2006 to develop the conditions and conduct the privatization of shares of OJSC HC "Yakutugol" and OJSC "Elgaugol", which were then owned by Yakutia. The purpose of creating the company is to attract investors for the development of the economy of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), as well as for the development, implementation, coordination of investment and innovation programs and projects in all sectors of the economy of the republic.
