In the Kiev Pechersk Lavra, the nuns who visited it disappeared, reports Komsomolskaya Pravda in Ukraine.

Information about the disappearance of women - the 52-year-old abbess of the Holy Protection Monastery and her 31-year-old assistant - appeared in the media on the morning of Monday, June 17. The police and rescuers were involved in the search for the nuns.

According to the publication, rescuers have already examined all hard-to-reach places - caves, dungeons, wells on the territory of the Kiev Pechersk Lavra. The search has not yet brought any results.

The abbess and her assistant, as it became known, disappeared on Friday, June 14, when they visited the Lavra. They were planning to leave the monastery late in the evening and ordered a car for the return trip, but the taxi driver did not wait for them. The Holy Protection Monastery confirmed that the abbess did not return there.

The fact of the disappearance of the nuns is classified in the register of pre-trial investigations under the article “Intentional murder”. However, the publication’s sources in the police explained that this was done in order to “have more opportunities for operational work.”

At the same time, the newspaper has information that the investigation is considering the possibility of the abduction of women. According to her, the abbess was familiar with a certain fraudster who “cheated” people by offering them cars for sale. It is known that the fraudster donated a certain amount to the monastery, and then, when they tried to bring her to justice, “moved the arrows there, they say, the money in the holy monastery.” She later disappeared from investigation. The publication believes that the nuns could have been kidnapped by one of the deceived people, who hoped to repay the debt in a similar way.
