The Opposition Coordination Council (CCO) will support Alexei Navalny as a “single opposition candidate” in the Moscow mayoral elections, follows from the voting results .
“21 out of 41 members of the Council voted for this decision, so the decision was made,” said CSR Executive Secretary Marat Davletbaev.
Previously, the CSO was unable to make a decision on supporting the candidate for the post of mayor of Moscow from the opposition. In addition to Navalny, another council member, Sergei Udaltsov, who is under house arrest, announced his intention to nominate his candidacy.
On June 4, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced that he was ready to resign as mayor of Moscow and participate in early elections for the head of the city. They will take place on September 8, until then Sobyanin and his colleagues will work in their places as acting officials. Members of the Coordination Council of the Opposition Alexey Navalny, leader of Metal Corrosion Sergei “Spider” Troitsky, leader of Yabloko Sergei Mitrokhin, State Duma deputy Mikhail Degtyarev - candidate from the LDPR, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Ivan Melnikov - candidate from Communist Party of the Russian Federation. Documents for registration were submitted by the deputy director of the Kalita-Finance company Igor Suzdaltsev and unemployed Muscovite Alexey Denisov. Mikhail Prokhorov's Civic Platform refused to participate in the elections.
