Conducting large economic forums in countries with an authoritarian regime is an obvious element of the cargo pult. After all, the forum is a place where they talk, consult. Our power does not need the Soviets from business, but in his money, in his readiness to take up state projects and in respectfully inclined heads. Accordingly, the heads of the largest foreign and Russian companies come to the forums mainly in order to “mark” and “express respect”. Do not come - almost indecent. Almost how not to appear at the dinner party: you didn’t come - it means that you are lurking anger against the sovereign in your soul.

This pleasure (or rather, duty) is quite expensive. Only the governor's reception of George Poltavchenko cost more than 30 million rubles. The premium package of the participant - 177 thousand rubles, standard - 118 thousand Petersburg hotels, despite last year’s investigations, during the forum they raise prices at times. Petersburgers these days leave the city as much as possible: streets, recommendations do not look out in the windows ...

Official surroundings and fireworks are designed to decorate talk about the fact that everyone already knows: about too expensive loans, the role of regions in supporting business, about the risks of the global economy and the development of global energy, about the projects of economic modernization in the Russian Academy of Sciences, about the revival of the economy at the expense of state investment and mitigating monetary policy ...
